Okay so I just got back from my youth group's purity night! It's were we girls have a sleep over together and we focus on purity. This time our topic was purity of heart, mind, and body. I totally left my bible! I was going to stay the night butttt I couldn't so I got back at 1am! Wohoo!!! It was an awesome night and I learned a lot.
What does is mean to give pieces of your heart to someone? You are giving pieces of your heart when you give them your love, respect, emotions, time, personal information, etc. When you are in a relationship with someone you give those things to them. If you were to ever be with a different person you can't give your whole heart to them because you already gave it to that other person. God says, "The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it? I the Lord search the heart and examine the mind, to reward each person according to their conduct, according to what their deeds deserve." (Jeremiah 17:9-10 NIV) Do not follow your heart, God says it's evil. Follow Jesus!
You need to keep building a relationship with God. We (the followers of Jesus) are the bride of Christ. If you were going to get married you would want to know your groom. So how you get to know God is by reading His Word and praying. Praying is just another word for talking. Talk to God and He replies though His Word. ^_^They started the bible study with these verses:
"But we ought always to thank God for you, brothers and sisters loved by the Lord, because God chose you as first fruits to be saved through the sanctifying work of the Spirit and through belief in the truth. He called you to this through our gospel, that you might share in the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. So then, brothers and sisters, stand firm and hold fast to the teachings we passed on to you, whether by word of mouth or by letter. May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal encouragement and good hope, encourage your heart and strengthen you in every good deed and word."
(2 Thessalonians 2:13-17 NIV)

that was awesome Hannah- you really are growing up. You are very mature young woman- don't ever lose that! I love the part about giving parts of your heart away then it's not there for the other- so true!
